Volunteer
Information for Volunteers
The Back Pack Health Worker Team has short-term opportunities at its Mae Sot office for qualified non-medical volunteers. At the present time, there is no need for medical/health care volunteers as our organization is fortunate to have sufficient resources available to it from local community-based organizations and international NGOs. Also our health care programs operate inside Burma by trained community health workers who are from the communities that they served.
The current non-medical volunteer opportunities at the Back Pack Health Workers Team are for trainers to enhance/build our staff capacities in:
Business Communications: Effective presentations – verbal, visual, & written; reports, grants, & proposals; and, emails, memorandum, and other business correspondence – writing & responses.
Program Planning & Management
Project Management
Financial Management: Budgeting & financial reporting at both the organizational and program levels.
English Literacy: Pronunciation, vocabulary, conversation, & writing.
Computer Literacy: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, Adobe pdf, QuickBooks, file/office organization & management/maintenance, video editing, and website design & management.
Volunteer capacity building trainers should have the appropriate subject background as well as the ability to teach in a group and one-on-one setting.
Additionally, the Back Pack Health Worker Team is seeking a qualified volunteer to work with its staff to facilitate the development of strategies and appropriate promotional materials to effectively access and maintain core, multi-year funding from both private and public foundations as well as to otherwise promote and advocate for the aims of the organization to current and prospective stakeholders.
The work location for all volunteer opportunities will be at the BPHWT office in Mae Sot, Thailand. The typical work week for the BPHWT staff is 0830-1600 from Monday – Saturday. All volunteers will be responsible for their travel documents, accommodations, food, transportation, medical insurance, and other related expenses associated with their volunteer assignment at the BPHWT.
Interested volunteers should send a resume/CV and a cover letter email outlining specifically how their knowledge, experience, and skill sets will help to build the BPHWT staff knowledge and skills in one or more of the indicated areas of need, or alternative to work with our staff to develop a funding/promotional strategy with related materials. Also the cover letter email should mention the length of time commitment of the volunteer, which should be sufficient to successfully complete the assignment.
It is expected that, prior to sending the resume/CV and cover email, interested volunteers will have familiarized themselves with our organization through the host of information and reports available on this website. For active consideration, resumes/CVs and cover letter emails should be tailored to our organization and not be of a generic nature.
Emails should be sent to: bphwt@loxinfo.co.th
